Orlando Pirates made their intent clear with a huge 8-1 win over Marumo Gallants in the Premier Soccer League game staged at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.

It was a massive win and a confidence booster for the Soweto giants who, prior to the game, had struggled to score.

The victory took Bucs to 24 points, three less than leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who squeezed a narrow 1-0 win against AmaZulu. Pirates have played nine games, one less than the defending champions.

Have a look at what the fans said after the exciting nine-goal thriller.

I would have loved this margin against Magesi

We were talking about Lucas Ribeiro being the best player but he's no longer in the picture. Relebohile Mofokeng is too much at 20 years old, now imagine at 25. Let's bow down –  Sphesihle

Scoring to cover even the previous games. The team must be this clinical, we have not been like this in the last three games. Congratulations boys, although I would have loved this margin against Magesi FC –  Mahlo Vincent Ntshengwa

The only dream Nasreddine Nabi will never realize. He will never taste this – Kwenisto Makgakga

During half-time, Riviero said to them “You'll not get paid this month” and everything else was history. I feel bad for Marumo Salad, it was eaten before Xmas – Lalas Kholo

Imagine Boitumelo Radiopane scored before Kaizer Chiefs' Christian Saile – Gumede II

You will never take the league from Sundowns

Just imagine if it was the last game of the league and we win with this number of goals! People would be saying Irvin Khoza bought it – Tiyiselani Richard Chauke

You can win 8-1 but you will never take the league from Mamelodi Sundowns – Evangelist M Msiza

I don't think Thalente Mbatha understands how talented he is, the sooner he realises that the better! With more consistency and arrogance in his game, he can reach that level of Federico Valverde – Mo Ga No Jnr

The Cocomelon Relebohile Mofokeng must go to Barcelona. He has served us with distinction, and this league is too small for this talent. He must go and compete at the highest stage possible – Moses Moreroa

Tshegofatso Mabasa's statue must be built in Naturena to motivate Ashley du Preez – Simphiwe Mathebula

Kabelo Dlamini is the best passer in PSL and Patrick Maswanganyi should learn. Mofokeng, no words can describe him, we have a player in Gilberto – Thembinkosi Jali
