Kaizer Chiefs target another Stellies star after Langelihle Phili deal

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly looking to sign a second player from Stellenbosch FC this transfer window, targeting winger Faiz Abrahams after securing a deal for Langelihle Phili.

Following the agreement for Phili, which is pending a medical next week, discussions between the two clubs have reportedly continued. Amakhosi are keen to add another dynamic young attacker to their squad ahead of the upcoming Betway Premiership season.

The Phili transfer already involves Ashley Du Preez and Given Msimango moving to the Cape Winelands club. According to FARPost, talks concerning Abrahams were initiated even before the Phili deal was concluded, suggesting that Chiefs’ transfer business with Stellenbosch is not yet complete.

Chiefs boost as target rejects Durban City

It is understood that the 21-year-old winger has already rejected an offer from Durban City, leaving Kaizer Chiefs in a strong position to secure his services.

A potential swap deal is also on the table. Stellenbosch have shown interest in Kaizer Chiefs DDC defender Gopolang Taunyana, who has been training with Gavin Hunt’s squad. Taunyana’s name has been mentioned as negotiations for Abrahams progress.

Despite limited senior-level experience, Abrahams is a highly-rated attacking prospect. A product of Stellenbosch’s youth academy, he has demonstrated his potential for both his club and at the international youth level.

The pacy forward recently returned from a successful loan spell in Israel with second-tier side Hapoel Kfar Saba. In 11 league appearances, he contributed three goals and three assists before his return to South Africa in February.
