Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo is convinced it is the end of the road for Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout.
The Premier Soccer League defending champions Masandawana made it to the quarter-final after a huge 5-0 win over Golden Arrows. The Glamour Boys advanced with a 4-0 victory over SuperSport United to make the last eight.
The Soweto Giants have not beaten the Brazilians since 2021, but in the controversial 2-1 loss in the recent meeting, Chiefs showed hunger and determination to get a positive outing.
It explains why their former custodian is convinced his team will make the semi-final slot after this weekend's outing.
‘Chiefs are very strong this season' – Khuzwayo
“I'm gonna go with my team, to be honest. Do you know the motto that says “Ikhosi Ali Pheli U Moya”? [Amakhosi do not give up], I'm going with my team because I think they are very strong this season,” Khuzwayo told GOAL.
“There is confidence from the players. The coach has brought something unique and players are buying into his style. Even in the game that we lost against Sundowns lately, you could see that Downs were pulling back.
“Towards the end of the game, you could see a strong side of Kaizer Chiefs, that tells you that they can win this game,” he added.
“I give them this one, yes it is going to be a very difficult match but after the final whistle, Chiefs will go on to the semi-finals.”
The Match on Saturday will be played at 18.00 hours.
