Orlando Pirates might be in a tight PSL title race with Mamelodi Sundowns but former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye does not think they will be crowned.
Pirates have mounted a serious challenge this season and are the only threat to Sundowns winning a ninth straight league title with both sides separated by just three points.
Sundowns went top with 47 points following their win over Orbit College on Tuesday but Pirates can climb back to the summit if they win by at least 2-0 against Richards Bay on Wednesday.

That is not something that has been witnessed from the Buccaneers in many years with their last league title coming in 2012 but while they maintain their onslaught on Sundowns, Khanye feels it is an exercise in futility.
Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star isn’t convinced by Orlando Pirates
“Well done to Sundowns and I’m still maintaining they will win the league again,” Khanye said on iDiski TV.
“I said this before the season started. Yes, the race is tight and we should also compliment Pirates, let’s not disrespect them because they have played well this season.”

Khanye feels it will be difficult to dislodge Sundowns, who have won their last seven league games, including a victory over Pirates, and given their experience and quality, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men do not stand a chance.
“But the thing is Sundowns have re-discovered their rhythm and this is a quality team,” he added. “When we talk about depth just look at this team.”

“Some key players were not even playing. They are playing Champions League on Friday. But they will win the league. I’m honestly convinced they are going to win it. Write it down,” he further stated.
Pirates had taken advantage of Sundowns’ indifferent form midseason but Miguel Cardoso’s team have since returned to their brilliant best and look unstoppable at the moment.
To win the league, Pirates cannot afford to drop points and it remains to be seen if Khanye will be proven right or wrong.
