Former Orlando Pirates star Pollen Ndlanya has revealed why he’d choose Relebohile Mofokeng for a Footballer of the Season over Lucas Ribeiro.
Both Ribeiro and Mofokeng delivered truly outstanding performances during the past campaign, proving to be pivotal players for their respective teams.
Ribeiro, in particular, showcased his exceptional attacking prowess over 48 appearances, where he netted a remarkable 20 goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions.
Not to be outdone, Mofokeng also enjoyed a stellar season. In 49 appearances across all competitions, he scored an impressive 12 goals and registered 15 assists, demonstrating his significant contribution to both scoring and creating opportunities for his side.
Their individual brilliance made them standout figures in the recent football calendar.
Ndlanya says he'd cast his vote for Mofokeng, emphasizing how the youngster impressively carried the weight of a big team on his shoulders.

‘PIRATES RELIED ON HIM’
“I think it is a very close battle between Relebohile Mofokeng and Lucas Ribeiro because they were both very influential for their teams this past season,” Ndlanya told iDiski Times.
“Ribeiro did very well for Mamelodi Sundowns, and that’s why he has to be considered. He played consistently well and was influential in most of their matches, and he even was the league’s top scorer. But I would go with Relebohile. For a player as young as he is to carry the team the way he did for Pirates this year was amazing.
“Pirates relied on him, and he came through for them. Every match he played, he was a key figure, as he created goals and even scored.
“It is very rare to have someone so young being the key player for a club, especially one as big as Pirates, where the pressure is very high. If I was a judge, my vote would go to Rele.”
