Celebrated South African coach Pitso Mosimane contributed massively to Rulani Mokwena’s growth in football.
The veteran tactician promoted Mokwena from the U19 team during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns and made him his assistant. The now 38-year-old is one of the continent’s most talented coaches. Having led Masandawana to back-to-back Premier Soccer League wins as well as the African Football League title, Mokwena is in North Africa.

Last season, he was at the helm of Botola Pro League outfit Wydad Athletic Club, where he helped them re-strategise following their initial struggles. He later parted ways with the Moroccan outfit but in no time, Algerian side MC Alger went for him.
He is still with the club where he is aiming to win both domestic competitions and the CAF ones.
Mosimane points out another talent
Recently, Durban City announced they have parted ways with Sinethemba Badela, just three weeks after taking over from former Kaizer Chiefs tactician Gavin Hunt who is currently with Stellenbosch.
“Thank you, Coach Badela. Durban City FC confirms that the Club has parted ways with Head Coach Sinethemba Badela by mutual agreement. We appreciate his service and wish him every success moving forward,” the Citizens said in a statement.
Mosimane believes Badela is special and has a bright future in the coaching industry.
“This coach is very talented. I see something special in him. South Africa must preserve and nurture its own talent,” he said on his X account.
“I spent a full day with him in Bloemfontein, and I was very impressed with him.”
It is interesting to see where Badela will be going next after parting ways with the PSL newbies.
