Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has commended Orlando Pirates rising star Relebohile Mofokeng, who has quickly established his name in SA football.
Mofokeng was gradually integrated into the first team towards the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, making his debut in a match against Royal AM.
He has garnered significant praise from the football enthusiasts as he became a consistent presence in the Pirates lineup, making notable contributions.
Khanye asserts that the 20-year-old plays a crucial role in the team's achievements and demonstrates remarkable maturity for his age.
JUNIOR KHANYE ON RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG
“Relebohile Mofokeng is so talented, and he's got a big character. He is so matured and that's why I say he is a gift from God,” Khanye told Soccer Laduma.
“He is a gift from God who has also been made complete with proper development that he received from a young age.
That boy for me is Pirates, because of how influential he is in the team.”
Khanye recalled Mofokeng's impressive performance in the Nedbank Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns last season, where he scored a late winning goal after dribbling past Bongani Zungu.
WHAT MAKES RELE SPECIAL
“Look at what he did last season when he came on in the latter stages of the game against Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup and won Pirates the trophy,” added Khanye.
“It is not easy doing what he did and that isn't coaching. He used his skill to dribble past players and got the ball through (Bongani) Zungu's legs on his way to score a great goal, and that you can't tell me is coaching, it is individual brilliance.
“No one does those kinds of things overnight, but it's pure talent and brilliance. The boy is extremely talented.”
