Jali secures deal with another Premier Soccer League team after Moroka Swallows exit

Andile Jali is set to continue his Premier Soccer League adventure after a deal in principle with a top-tier side.

The 34-year-old is currently a free agent after his fall-out with Moroka Swallows which resulted in his release in January. The former Bafana Bafana international has since been looking for a team he can offer his services to ahead of the new campaign.

Jali's six-month efforts have now paid dividends as explained by his agent Mike Makaab, with the contract details set to be made public in the next couple of days.

He is remaining in the South African top-tier

Having featured for top teams in both South Africa and overseas, Jali has what it takes to deliver at the top level but Makaab has not disclosed the team his client will be turning out for.

“I can only say that we are very close to finalizing a new home for him, [but] I will not disclose that [team] now,” Makaab told Gagasi FM.

“[However] But I can assure you that it will happen within the next seven to 10 days. Talks are at an advanced stage between ourselves, AJ, and the football club. He’s remaining in the [Premier Soccer League].

“I’m not even prepared to whisper which province.”

AJ has not lost it! ‘The man you can rely on'

Despite his lack of game time in the last couple of months, Makaab is adamant the former Orlando Pirates player has what it takes to have a positive impact at any team.

“Let me tell you something about AJ, he puts his mind to it, he will get himself in great shape. He will be influential to whoever he plays for this season. AJ is a strong character, and great for the dressing room, irrespective of what anybody says,” he added.

“I will never forget the words of Manqoba [Mngqithi] when he and I spoke about AJ and Pitso [Mosimane]. ‘When the ships are down and you are looking for warriors to say we can’t be afraid, particularly on the African continent and in big games', they have always said to me, ‘the man you can rely on is AJ'.

“He's not anything different today than he was two years ago, five years ago. That spirit of wanting to win still sits deep within him.”

Jali will most probably join a mid-table team hoping to get game time regularly.
