Kaizer Chiefs learn rivals for soon-to-be free agent Lorch

Kaizer Chiefs will reportedly face competition from clubs in North Africa for Thembinkosi Lorch, who is teetering towards an exit from Libyan side Al-Ittihad.

Lorch’s future in Libya is uncertain after Al-Ittihad coach Fawzi Benzarti axed him from the squad ahead of the new season which kicked off last week.

The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns forward had reportedly not impressed Benzarti during the preparations for the new season and given the number of new players signed, Lorch looks to have been sacrificed for the new arrivals.

Who else is interested in Lorch?

It now casts doubt about Lorch’s future at the club with the veteran tactician looking to have made up his mind, leaving ‘Nyoso’ now looking towards an exit in January.

Having not agreed a deal with Moroccan side Mas Fes in the recent transfer window, Lorch is now at a career crossroads although he is not short of suitors.

Chiefs have been heavily linked with Lorch and the speculation will intensify now that his situation is not clear in Libya but according to iDiski Times, there is also interest from Libya and Algeria for the forward.

Chiefs target in difficult spot in Libya

Lorch has had a difficult time in Libya since his big-money move from Wydad in January, playing seven games and managing one goal.

His situation has become tough following the departure of coach Rulani Mokwena, who first signed him at Sundowns, before reuniting with him in Morocco and then Libya.

Lorch’s uncertain future will likely see a battle between the clubs interested in his services although it remains to be seen if Al-Ittihad will demand a hefty transfer fee or opt to terminate his contract.
