Ben Youssef on decision to hand them Chiefs job
Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Khalil Ben Youssef has opened about the decision that led to his appointment as co-coach alongside Cedric Kaze.

Ben Youssef and Kaze took over from Nasreddine Nabi when the Tunisian left Chiefs in September 2025 and he says the initial plan was not for them to stay the whole season.
“First we met with Mr Kaizer. He said to us that coach Nabi would leave the team and asked, ‘What’s your feeling, guys, to continue to work and take charge of the team?’” he said on GIANTS.

“We said, ‘We don’t have a problem. We are working.’ But in the beginning, it wasn’t that we would take charge for the full season. It was just to take over, and then the board would decide if they would bring a new head coach or keep us.”
The two continued until the end of the season, leading Chiefs to third place, their best league finish in six years but their deals were not extended as the club appointed current coach Fernando da Cruz.
Double boost for Kaizer Chiefs as duo return
Kaizer Chiefs have received a timely boost ahead of their upcoming fixtures, with attackers Wandile Duba and Flavio Silva reportedly back in full training.

The duo had their promising starts to the 2026/27 campaign interrupted by injuries, but their return could provide a welcome lift to Chiefs’ attacking options.
Duba has been one of Amakhosi’s standout performers this season, scoring three goals in four league appearances before being sidelined. The forward suffered a hip and groin strain during training on 15 September 2026.
His last appearance came in Chiefs’ 1-1 draw against Polokwane City on 12 September.

Silva, meanwhile, has endured a longer spell on the sidelines after suffering a training injury earlier in the campaign. The newly signed forward had scored once before his progress was disrupted and has since missed a number of matches.
However, both players have now been spotted participating fully in Chiefs’ recent training sessions, suggesting they are nearing a return to competitive action when the domestic season resumes.
Their comeback would come at an important time for the Glamour Boys, who have also been without other attacking options, including Khanyisa Mayo, Lebohang Maboe and Langelihle Phili.
