Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz has shared the latest team news ahead of the Carling Knockout quarter-final game against Siwelele FC.

The fixture will be staged at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, where the Soweto giants‘ faithful will be hoping for nothing but a win which will guarantee them a place in the last four.

In a presser, Da Cruz explained why Nkosingiphile Ngcobo will have to give his best to get a regular spot on the pitch.

Khanyisa Mayo has also been nursing an injury for some time, while Elias Mokwana is the latest acquisition by the Naturena Village-based outfit.

“Khanyisa Mayo is not ready physically for the moment, he’s working hard to come back. Speaking about Mshini, he has a lot of competition in his position, with Shabalala [Mduduzi], Vilakazi [Mfundo], who are able to play in his position as well. He must keep his motivation, he must keep working,” Da Cruz stated as quoted by SABC Sport.

The tactician further explained why new signing Elias Mokwana needs some time before being fully involved.

“Yes, Mokwana is a very good player, an experienced player as well. He was in Bafana Bafana before, so he has a lot of quality as well,” the coach added.

“We know that his beginning of the season was a bit inactive but we have the FIFA break, so during the FIFA break we will have the time to work with him and I think after the FIFA break will be the time to integrate him step by step in the squad,” he concluded.
