Tshegofatso Mabasa: Latest on Kaizer Chiefs-linked forward

Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa is among the experienced players in the market for a new team ahead of the 2026/27 Premier Soccer League campaign.

The Soweto giants deemed the Bafana Bafana attacker as surplus to requirements, explaining his loan move to Gavin Hunt’s Stellenbosch in the second half of the 2025/26 season. The champions opted against extending his deal at the club, letting him leave.

Latest on Mabasa

Apart from Kaizer Chiefs, the 29-year-old had been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu FC, Al-Ittihad and most recently Egyptian heavyweights Pyramids who are coached by South African Rulani Mokwena.

Nevertheless, no team presented a concrete offer for the experienced forward who scored 50 goals during his time with the Soweto giants. But it seems Mabasa will not be in the market for long if recent reports are anything to consider.

“Mabasa is closing in on his next move, as his has been the most-anticipated signing of the transfer window.

“I can tell you that he is close to finalizing his next move and, if everything goes well, he could sign by next week. So let’s wait and see what happens, but he is likely to sign very soon — that much I can tell you,” Soccer Laduma reported.
