‘Let Chiefs fans bark but Pirates can concentrate on Caf CL’

Published on by

Orlando Pirates‘ 11-match unbeaten run across all competitions was brought to a halt on Saturday when they fell 3-2 in the Carling Knockout's Round of 16 against Magesi.

The Premier Soccer League newbies scored their three goals in the first half through Delano Abrahams, Thabiso Sesane's own goal, and Edmore Chirambadare's strike.

The Buccaneers responded through Kabelo Dlamini and Evidence Makgopa's deflected shot which was a little too late for the Soweto giants.

Have a look at what the fans said after the game.

Let Chiefs fans bark, Riveiro got it horribly wrong

Carling Knockout was one problem but it is gone. Orlando Pirates can now be able to concentrate in the Caf Champions League  –  Zweli Thixo

Let Kaizer Chiefs fans bark, dogs only bark at a moving car, let them talk because when they talk about themselves nobody listens. I'm super proud of Pirates –  Dr Shiyaklenga

Coach Jose Riveiro got it horribly wrong in defense. Deon Hotto should have been on the bench. Can we start playing with a natural left-back? Hotto needs to compete with wingers. He’s not a Defender – Ka Madesi

This early exit is a blessing in disguise. With all the traveling between different African countries, challenging for the Premier Soccer League, and defending the Nedbank Cup, I'm not mad at this – Nkanyiso Memela

The never-die attitude is crazy! We're going to see the best of Orlando Pirates this season – Shikamaru

Pirates were shocking

In the first half, Pirates were shocking, how did they not learn after the first goal, we can't trust the team without Tito, useless – Geo

Evidence Makgopa is way better than Tshegofatso Mabasa. Mabasa wants tap-ins always; when wingers carry the ball, he will always run to the box. I guess he can't read the play – Khutso

Very much impressed with the performance from Pirates but next time coach Riveiro must not go easy on these small teams – Teddy Maverick

Hard luck boys, you gave your all. You fought but the referees decided the game. I like the fighting spirit. Let's move on to the next one. We win some and we lose some – Kwenisto Makgakga

Clear dive and clear offside from Patrick Maswanganyi. If Abongile Tom was there Pirates would have won – Lucas Cuinhan
