Lyle Foster Makes Premier League Return as Burnley Hold Man United in Four-Goal Thriller

Fresh from Bafana Bafana’s AFCON 2025 last-16 clash against Cameroon, South African striker Lyle Foster made a swift return to Premier League action on Wednesday night. The Burnley forward arrived back in England yesterday and was named on the bench for his side’s clash against Manchester United at Turf Moor.

Foster was introduced in the 75th minute, replacing Armando Broja with the score locked at 2-2 and Burnley pushing for a dramatic winner. Unfortunately, the match ended in a draw, and Foster’s cameo was capped by a yellow card for dissent in added time.

Sesko Double Not Enough for United

United, under interim boss Darren Fletcher following Ruben Amorim’s exit, looked set for victory after Benjamin Sesko ended his nine-game goal drought with a brace in the 50th and 60th minutes. But Burnley hit back through Jaidon Anthony’s equaliser in the 66th minute, punishing slack defending.

Burnley had stunned United early when a deflected cross from Bashir Humphreys looped into the net in the 13th minute. Despite late chances, including Shea Lacey rattling the crossbar, United couldn’t find a winner.

Burnley remain 19th on the table, eight points from safety, while United missed the chance to climb into the top four, staying sixth on 32 points
