New Orlando Pirates signing makes a bold promise to fans

Orlando Pirates have recently done well in the ongoing transfer window where they have added Andre de Jong, Daniel Msendami as well as Mpho Chabatsane.

The Soweto giants are chasing the Premier Soccer League and the Nedbank Cup to add up to the already won MTN8 as well as the Carling Knockout. However, the main target remains the PSL crown that was secured more than a decade ago.

Andre de Jong

New Zealand midfielder De Jong, who joined the club from Stellenbosch, has promised Pirates faithful big things.

Apart from helping them win the league, the 29-year-old, who scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 114 matches for Stellies, believes he will get goals for his new team as well.

I want to contribute to Bucs as much as possible

“I think it’s a goal of everyone at the club to win the league this year, and it’s a great opportunity sitting on top of the log at the break now. So, in these two weeks, we have been really been pushing too hard,” he told the Sea Robbers’ media team.

“I think from the outside, there is a lot of expectations from the fans to break the drought. So, hopefully we can this season and really stamp out authority when we come back into the game.

“Some of my personal goals is obviously to contribute to the team as much as possible. I think obviously I would love to win the league, and I think everyone at the club would. So, that’s a big goal of mine. I would also want to score and contribute goals going forward, to bring a nice interplay in the final third and also to work really hard off the ball.

“Pirates have a really good pressing culture and defensive structure. So, just to give my all whenever I play and hopefully contribute to the team winning,” he concluded.
