Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has highlighted why he feels his team has an edge over Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final.
Sundowns and Pirates will face off in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday with Ouaddou looking for his second in a row, while the Buccaneers are eyeing a record fifth on the bounce.
Meanwhile, Sundowns have not won the trophy since 2021 but come into the match in a strong position in the league and having claimed the Asia-Africa Pacific Cup last month.
“About our preparation, the preparation is going well, and I think it’s a good event. We are really excited to play again this kind of game and to defend this title,” Ouaddou told the media as per KickOff.

“Of course, we had around two weeks to prepare for this game. We missed some of the international players, like many teams, but at least the rhythm and the focus were on that game.
“And especially, what a fantastic event we are playing in Durban. We know it’s a city where we have a lot of support,” he added, while highlighting his team’s advantage.
Ouaddou says the two teams have an opportunity to showcase the best of South African football during the high stakes match.
“We are playing a game of two champions, a fantastic event for the country, for all the lovers of football,” he added.
“Our aim is just to go into that game with big ambition, willing to do well, to show the best face of Pirates and, of course, to give a very good image of football in South Africa.”
Bucs sign Jayden Adam’s younger brother
Meanwhile, Pirates have reportedly signed Ronaldo Adams, the younger brother to the late Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams.
According to reports, the 18-year-old midfielder has ditched Stellenbosch FC for the Buccaneers and is set to join their DStv Diski Challenge team.
Pirates have reportedly been impressed by the midfielder’s displays in his early days at the club and hope that he can flourish into a star like his late brother.
