Orlando Pirates shake up PSL with signing of European striker

Orlando Pirates have officially bolstered their attacking lineup with the signing of Norwegian striker Sebastian Pedersen from Sogndal Fotball.

The Soweto giants confirmed the acquisition on Sunday evening.

The 27-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract with the Buccaneers, which includes an option for an additional season. Pedersen arrives with an impressive goal-scoring record, having found the net 51 times in his last 117 appearances for his former club.

In a statement, the club welcomed its new addition: “Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of striker Sebastian Pedersen from Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball. He becomes the newest addition to Abdeslam Ouaddou’s squad as the Buccaneers prepare for a competitive season ahead.”

Pedersen is a product of Norwegian football’s renowned development system, having represented his country at every youth level from Under-15 to Under-21. Described as a “one-touch finisher” rather than a physical “bulldozer,” his playing style is expected to bring a sharp, clinical edge to the Pirates’ frontline.

Pirates bolster attack after key exits

Pirates have added firepower to an attack that has seen Tshegofatso Mabasa leave after the end of his contract while Relebohile Mofokeng departed for Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

The Buccaneers are looking to defend their league title while there is added pressure to perform well in the CAF Champions League next season, hence the need for quality players at the front end of the pitch.
