Orlando Pirates Transfers: Appollis & Matuludi signed? Mohafe responds

Polokwane City attacker Osiwn Appollis and defender Thabang Matuludi have been linked with a move away from the club.

Bafana Bafana international Appollis has been regularly linked with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates while Matuludi has been on the Bucs' radar. Recently, there were reports the Jose Riveiro-led team are close to securing the deal for the duo.

The Spaniard feels he needs more quality to help him challenge for the Premier Soccer League and have a good run in the Caf Champions League. Amakhosi have been struggling for consistency, especially in the attacking front, and they need a proven talent to help them deliver.

Let the headlines fly, but…

After Polokwane's 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United last weekend, coach Phuti Mohafe shed light on the duo.

“You know with this issue of our players being linked with other people, let it be their own agenda,” he stated.

“But I think we shouldn’t be engaging with it anymore because it’s just rumours that are flying around and I’d rather not comment further about this but as you checked the players are here.

“So that tells you something else. Let the headlines fly but I don’t have to talk to them, these players, they know what is at stake for them,” Mohafe concluded.

The short January Transfer Window was opened on January 1, giving teams a chance to strengthen in positions they feel short. It is interesting to see whether Rise and Shine can stop the duo if Pirates come with a tempting offer.
