The Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, extended their Premier Soccer League’s unbeaten run to 13 games thanks to their victory over AmaZulu on Tuesday night.
Relebohile Mofokeng was the tormentor in Chiefs, scoring one goal and forcing an own goal to help the Sea Robbers get vital three points. It was a vital victory that ensured the Buccaneers are on 35 points from 15 games, two more than Mamelodi Sundowns who are second.
Bucs’ traditional rivals Kaizer Chiefs come in third with 30 points meaning they will have to collect victories consistently and hope Pirates faulter.
Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has lauded his goalkeeper, Sipho Chaine, who pulled some crucial saves to help his team win. In the end, he was rewarded with his 11th clean sheet in the PSL from 15 games, equal with Chiefs captain Brandon Petersen.
I have to give big credit to Chaine
The former Morocco international insists that the big saves the Bafana Bafana custodian made proved vital as his team eventually claimed maximum points in Durban.
“People think he didn’t have too much to do, but the extra safe that he had to make, he did it. The save that he made at the end is what we asking for goalkeeper,” he said in his post-match interview.

“He kept us this goal not to concede and it allowed us maybe to go second goal, maybe if they had scored, maybe it will not be the same game.
“So, I have to give big, big credit to Sipho Chaine and all the players as well,” Ouaddou concluded.
The next task for Pirates will be in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
