The defender has waxed lyrical about his new team-mate who he feels will be a revelation

Orlando Pirates defender Thabiso Monyane has told the club’s supporters to expect a lot of quality from new signing Gilberto.

The Angolan winger joined Pirates from Petro de Luanda and has wasted little time to make an impact after scoring in the 1-1 draw against Granada in their pre-season friendly in Spain.

“Gilberto is quite an exciting player. I can say very skilful, very quick all I can say to the Buccaneers is that it’s gonna be an exciting season,” Monyane said, as per iDiski Times.

“Happy people once again should be happy and they should expect a very exciting team I can say that.”

Pirates counting Gilberto’s experience on the continent

Monyane feels Gilberto’s experience in the CAF Champions League and Africa Cup of Nations will be valuable to Pirates who will be challenging on multiple fronts next season, including on the continent.

“Definitely, I mean he has been there, he played there he has a bit of experience ahead of some other guys, so it's gonna help us a lot also the senior players are gonna push us and we are really looking forward as a team to that,” he added.

Gilberto is set to add to the attacking threat at Pirates who will be looking to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the PSL title after back-to-back Nedbank Cup and MTN8 double.

Jose Riveiro’s men have returned to South Africa after their tour of Spain that yielded one win, two draws and a loss.
