‘Pirates were still celebrating Soweto Derby Panenka! Ribeiro is unstoppable like Messi’

Mamelodi Sundowns proved to be too good against Orlando Pirates as they claimed a huge 4-1 win on Saturday in the Premier Soccer League outing staged at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane.

A Lucas Ribeiro brace and goals from Grant Kekana and Peter Shalulile reduced Deon Hotto's effort to just but a mere consolation.

The result took Sundowns to 42 points from the 15 games they have played, while the Sea Robbers are on 33 points after 14 games. Have a look at what the fans said after the fixture.

Deano van Rooyen is overrated

Thapelo Xoki doesn't deserve to wear the Orlando Pirates jersey, the less said about him wearing the armband the better. He is a real liability at the back. The overall performance of the team was poor, it seemed like they were nervous or something. You can't play for a big team and be frightened by other teams. I'm disappointed, we don't have any strikers and our defense without Sesane and Ndah is nowhere to be seen – Smiso C Madonda

We'll blame the coach all we want at Pirates but he doesn't sign players. The person who said we ain't signing players in January must account for the poor display we've been seeing. The only thing we have that's better than Sundowns is our graphic designer, the rest they are head and shoulders above us – Mfalme Mkhonza

Deano van Rooyen is overrated. The club has no depth, it won't be a shock if we go on a free fall from now. Tapelo Xoki is old and lazy, the Ribeiro goals were caused by his laziness. We released Otladisa and Gilberto, currently, the team is very thin in the attacking areas – Lehlaka Mojapelo

Sometimes the management and coach must be blamed, same lineup every game, with no signings, and where is Saleng? Let's just admit that the league is gone and focus on other things like Nedbank because as for CAF I doubt that we will make it with Xoki and Sibisi – Kgadi Ya Dinoko

We lost against a better opponent and we were outclassed in all departments. The battle may be lost but the war still continues up the Buc – Viscosa Vinox

Keep your three points, we have MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup!

Deon Hotto was playing alone. Others were still on the corner flag celebrating the Panenka – Simphiwe Njotini

Lucas Rebeiro is a star. Both his goals reminded me of the little boy from Rosario, Lionel Messi. He's unstoppable. He's who he thinks he is – Glad Boko

I enjoyed watching this match, eish! These Sundowns are classic and that's why they are indeed the best in Africa – Thoko Theya Mazibuko

Lucas Suarez must get citizenship! We need him for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Rushwin Dortley is good but Lucas Suarez wow! – Pablo Mo

Hey Sundowns, keep your three points, we will keep our MTN8 and Nedbank Cup – Mthoko Asphinde Moloi
