The Soweto Derby dates for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season are officially locked in as the new season rapidly approaches.
The MTN8 will kick off the new PSL campaign with its quarter-final matches taking place on the weekend of August 2-3.
The 2025/26 Betway Premiership will then get underway on August 9-10. Many eyes will be on Mamelodi Sundowns as they chase a remarkable ninth straight title.
However, beyond the title race, the Soweto Derby remains the undeniable highlight for many.
As the two biggest and most historically significant clubs in the country, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, their direct clash is more than just a game; it's a monumental event that consistently delivers drama, passion, and unforgettable moments, making it arguably the most anticipated fixture on the South African football calendar.

WHEN ARE TWO LEAGUE SOWETO DERBIES IN THE 2025/26 SEASON
There will be no Soweto Derby in the remaining six months of the year 2025. The first meeting between Amakhosi and the Buccaneers will be on 28 February at FNB Stadium.
Their second clash will be on 25 April at the FNB Stadium.
WHO WILL BIG THREE FACE IN THEIR OPENING LEAGUE FIXTURES
Meanwhile, the initial set of Betway Premiership fixtures promises an exciting start. The Sea Robbers will kick off their campaign on July 9th, hosting Sekhukhune United at their formidable home ground, Orlando Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 17:30.
The following day, July 10th, fans can look forward to another highly-anticipated encounter as Stellenbosch FC welcome Soweto giants, Chiefs to Athlone Stadium for a 17:00 clash that is sure to draw a significant crowd.
