Austrian club SV Ried have described Yusuf Maart as a perfect fit following his signing from Kaizer Chiefs.
Maart completed his highly-awaited move to Austria on Tuesday, after signing a two-year contract, with the newly-promoted Austria Bundesliga side having an option to extend for a further year.
The midfielder will now begin a new chapter in his career in Europe after three years at Chiefs and the Austrian club have expressed its delight at completing the transfer of the player while admitting they have been tracking him for some time.
“We are very happy that Yusuf has chosen SV Oberbank Ried. We have been observing him for some time and are convinced that he is a perfect fit for our playing style,” SV Ried Sporting Director Wolfgang Fiala said via s club statement while confirming Maart’s arrival.
What have Ried said about Maart?
“Yusuf is a very complete midfielder: He can steer the game, is strong in duels, is willing to run hard, and also has a good eye for his teammates. He also brings leadership qualities that will be beneficial to our young team. His international experience and his always-winning mentality were crucial factors for us in this signing.”
The 29-year-old was in awe of his new club, describing it a dream come true, as he ventures into Europe for the first time in his career.

“This is a great opportunity for me to play here in Europe. I'm really looking forward to gaining new experiences,” said Maart.
“I want to give my best in every game and be a great contributor to the team, both on and off the pitch. I know Austrian football to be highly intense and physical. Ried is known for the great atmosphere in the stadium and its fans.”

Maart’s departure was also confirmed by Chiefs, who wished him well at his new club, after serving them for the last three seasons when he played 95 games while scoring seven and providing eight assists.
“Midfielder Yusuf Maart has left Amakhosi to join newly-promoted Austrian Football Bundesliga outfit, SV Ried. The club appreciates Maart’s contribution and wishes him well in this new chapter in his career,” said Chiefs.
