Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu meet on Tuesday in a Premier Soccer League’s top of the table clash.

The Sea Robbers are aware that victory will put the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, under pressure. For Usuthu, a win at the Moses Mabhida Stadium will be a statement of their intent to finish in the top positions.

AmaZulu have lost just one of their last five PSL games, a 2-0 loss away to Richards Bay on September 28. They have four wins in five top-tier outings, two of which have come in the new year.

Bucs are unbeaten in the last 12 league outings but drew with Sekhukhune United in their first match of 2026 before beating Magesi 2-0 in their latest outing last weekend.

In the head-to-head record, in the last five meetings across all competitions Pirates have three wins with two ending in draws. The last meeting, in May last year, ended 1-1.

What They Said

Abdeslam Ouaddou Orlando Pirates

“These games [against Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs] are a bit too far, so for now we’ll focus on the next games.

“We have a lot of games, especially next week; we play against AmaZulu and we have a cup game [against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday].

“We’re going to play every three days, so it’s very important to manage the players,” Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou said after win over Magesi FC.

In the short January transfer window, AmaZulu signed Mason Mushore (Highlanders FC, Zimbabwe), Luyolo Slatsha (Cape Town City), and Gustavo Lopes (Free agent).
