Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos confirmed his 2026 FIFA World Cup squad on Wednesday night.

Among those who were dropped are Brandon Petersen (Kaizer Chiefs), Thabiso Monyane (Kaizer Chiefs), Lebohang Monyane (Kaizer Chiefs), Brooklyn Poggenpoel (Durban City), Patrick Maswanganyi (Orlando Pirates), and Thapelo Morena (Mamelodi Sundowns).

This squad looks solid on paper, but we’ve seen Bafana get hyped before and crash out in the group stage.  No real game-changers in attack, and the defence still leaks goals against top teams.  Prove me wrong in 2026, but right now it feels like another “participation trophy” campaign incoming – Ozge Evran
