Kaizer Chiefs are the biggest losers from the final Bafana Bafana World Cup squad announcement after three of their players were among the six omitted.
Broos unveiled his final 26-man squad headed to the World Cup and while he stuck with his tried and trusted, some who had hoped to break in did not make it.
Brandon Petersen

The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper will feel disappointed after working so hard with the hopes of earning a place in the national team this season.
Petersen kept 15 clean sheets as Chiefs finished third but besides that, he pulled off a number of key saves that earned his side many points but it was not enough to convince Broos who picked Ronwen Williams, Sipho Chaine and Ricardo Goss for the World Cup.
Thabiso Monyane

The Kaizer Chiefs right-back had made the preliminary squad after an impressive campaign but was excluded from the final team.
Broos went with Khuliso Mudau, Thabang Matuludi and Kamogelo Sebelebele as his right-back options instead.
Lebohang Maboe

The last of the Chiefs trio who missed out, Lebohang Maboe had a good season and earned a spot in the preliminary squad but lost out to Thalenthe Mbatha, Teboho Mokoena, Sphephelo Sithole, and Jayden Adams.
Patrick Maswanganyi

Orlando Pirates playmaker Patrick Maswangayi was also overlooked when the final squad was named despite scoring 10 goals and adding four assists.
‘Tito’ lost out to Themba Zwane and teammate Relebohile Mofokeng who will be Broos’ No.10s at the World Cup.
Thapelo Morena

The Mamelodi Sundowns star had hoped to make the final squad despite an indifferent season but ultimately lost out to Khuliso Mudau, Thabang Matuludi and Kamogelo Sebelebele.
Brooklyn Poggenpoel
Durban City midfielder Brooklyn Poggenpoel’ hopes of crashing the World Cup party went up in smoke when Broos ultimately overlooked him, having given him hope when he included him in the preliminary squad.
