Bafana Coach Broos Speaks on ‘Tricky’ Nigeria Clash

Published on by

The stage is set for a blockbuster FIFA World Cup qualifier, with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos anticipating a “tricky” and highly emotional contest against Nigeria on Tuesday.

South Africa is coming into the game with a significant morale boost following their commanding 3-0 victory against Lesotho, a result that has propelled them to the top of Group C.

The Super Eagles, however, are not out of the race. They managed to secure a vital 1-0 win over Rwanda, ensuring they remain in contention for a spot in the World Cup.

This sets up a do-or-die encounter between two of Africa's football powerhouses. The match holds immense weight, as both teams are fully aware of the implications for their qualification journey.

Broos understands the magnitude of the rivalry and the pressure that comes with it, emphasizing that the result of this single game could define their World Cup dreams.

‘THEY ARE MUCH BETTER THAN LESOTHO’

“You know that Nigeria is a very good team and a much better team than the team of Lesotho,” said Broos.

“So, we will have to take other majors and other tactical things than we did in the game of today [Friday]. We will see the next days and we will try to find the right team to beat Nigeria Tuesday.

“This is something that we'll see with the technical staff which team we will select for Tuesday.”

The Super Eagles secured a 1-0 victory over Rwanda on Saturday courtesy of second half’ strike from Tolu Arokodare.

Meanwhile, South Africa picked up a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Lesotho on Friday at Free State Stadium.
