Bafana vs Lesotho starting X1: Defiant Broos fields Mokoena as Mbule returns

Published on by

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has resisted the threats from Lesotho and fielded Teboho Mokoena into his starting XI for their World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.

South Africa face Lesotho at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Friday evening and Broos has gone with an experienced line-up which also sees Sipho Mbule return to the squad since September 2021.

Captain of the day Ronwen Williams starts in goal while Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Thabo Molaisane partner in central defence. Nyiko Mbobbie starts at right-back and Aubrey Modiba on the left.

Who else is in the starting XI?

Mokoena is in central midfield alongside Thalente Mbatha while Mbule starts in front of them in the No.10 role.

In attack, Broos has gone with Saudi-based Mohau Nkota on the right wing, Oswin Appollis on the left, as Lyle Foster leads the attack.

Bafana Bafana can open up an eight-point lead with victor against Lesotho ahead of a tough match against Nigeria next Tuesday.
