Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has expressed his satisfaction at the job being done by Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi at the club.
Nabi has taken charge of the Glamour Boys with a view to returning them to the top of South African football and the early indication is that he is leading them in the right direction.
Amakhosi have won two of their opening three PSL matches, a 2-1 victory over Marumo Gallants and 3-1 win over AmaZulu before last weekend’s controversial 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Broos is among those who are happy to see Chiefs in the right hands and has lauded Nabi for being forthright in his approach.
What does Bafana coach think of Nabi’s start at Chiefs?
“I’m happy that Kaizer Chiefs are showing they will come again to what they were a few years ago,” Broos said on SABC.
“They have been very disappointing in the last two years. I think the coach who is there now is a good coach and I know him.
“I think he can change it, and he’s starting to change things already when I see Chiefs play. There’s a plan there, there’s structure. He knows what he wants.”
Broos delighted that Nabi has ended ‘politics’ at Naturena
Broos also pointed out that the culture of favouritsm in selection at Chiefs is now over with Nabi in charge as players have to work for their places in the squad.
“He’s also a guy like me, he tells things like they are. What I feel is that there’s no friendship politics anymore, you have to perform and then you get a place in the team and that’s how it has to be. So I’m very happy with what’s happening in Chiefs now,” he added.
“Let’s be honest, it’s not normal; for a club like Chiefs to be eighth of ninth in the competition for the last two, three years, it’s not normal. It has to be… not always champions but second or third, maybe fourth… And I think they are on a good track now, so let’s hope.”
