Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly suffered a setback in their transfer activities after one of their main targets proved difficult to get.
Chiefs are reported to have approached Tanzanian giants Simba SC, managed by South African coach Fadlu Davids, over the transfer of highly-rated winger Kibu Denis but have been unsuccessful in their attempts.
The Glamour Boys are in the market for attacking reinforcements as coach Nasreddine Nabi looks to beef up his squad for a better campaign in 2025-26 when they will also be featuring in the CAF Confederation Cup.
How much did Chiefs offer Simba for the winger?
With his attackers disappointing as they finished ninth in the PSL, despite creating the most chances in the division, Nabi knows he cannot rely on the same next season and the club has been looking to bring in reliable goal scorers.
Denis has therefore emerged as a key target but according to Rwandan journalist Eric Ndagijimana, who has information over the matter, Chiefs have had their offer of R3 million rejected by the Tanzanian club.
“Simba SC have rejected a $170,000 offer from Kaizer Chiefs for striker Kibu Denis. Chiefs have now officially pulled out of the race to sign the Tanzanian forward.”
Kibu Denis has starred for Simba this season

Denis is a right winger who has been instrumental for Davids’ team this season as they went all the way to the CAF Confederation Cup final, where they lost to Moroccan side RS Berkane.
He has also played a key role in their run in the league where they are one point behind bitter rivals Yanga with one match remaining.
Chiefs will now have to look elsewhere as they look for good players but within their budget.
