Chiefs faithful warned against over-expectations in PSL title race

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has warned the supporters not to have wild expectations about winning the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title since the season is still a long way to go.

The Glamour Boys have been doing quite well in the South Afrcan top-flight football. On Tuesday, they beat Golden Arrows by a solitary goal to move third in the log with 27 points from the 14 games played.

Mamelodi Sundowns, who are the defending champions, have 29 points from 14 outings as well, while Orlando Pirates come second but after 12 assignments in the PSL.

Despite being just two points from the top, Amakhosi co-coach Kaze says the race has not yet been defined.

Focus on ZESCO United!

The Burundian insists the main focus right now is on Sunday in the CAF Confederation Cup outing against Zambian heavyweights ZESCO United in the Group D outing.

“The last time that the team won the league is 2015. Last two, three seasons, we were not even in top eight. I think the first thing, to be realistic is to stay in the park of first teams,” he told the media.

“It’s still January, we need to take game by game, stay in that park because everywhere the league is decided in April or beginning of May.

“But we know that we’re going to compete game by game. And now we’re going to focus on our next Confederation Cup game.

“There’s a lot of things that can happen from now on to May. But we know what we want and with the squad we have, we will compete on every game,” Kaze concluded.
