Thembinkosi Lorch agrees multi-million deal to ditch Wydad for Libyan outfit

Thembinkosi Lorch has reportedly agreed a mouth-watering deal to sign for Libyan moneybags Al-Ittihad from Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.

Lorch is the second player to be lured from Wydad by Al-Ittihad this month after the capture of Burkina Faso playmaker Stephane Aziz Ki, who completed his move this week.

According to iDiski Times, Lorch has verbally agreed to sign for Al-Ittihad on a two-and-a-half-year deal that will see him earn $75,000 (R1.2 million) per month in Libya, six months after signing permanently for Wyad.

Lorch is finishing one year since joining Wydad, having signed initially on a six-month loan from Mamelodi Sundowns last January, before making the move permanent at the end of the season.

Since then, he has lit it up in Morocco, scoring five goals and weighing in with four assists in 11 games in the first half of the season.

Why is Lorch leaving Wydad?

Wydad are reported to have sanctioned the move due to the big-money offer from the Libyan side plus the need to free up space in the team and the wage bill to allow for new signings who would then not have a lot of competition for game time.

The Moroccan giants are reportedly close to signing Bolivian Moises Paniagua and former Sevilla forward Wissam Ben Yedder while ex-Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech is looking forward to making his debut for the club in the second part of the season.

Al-Ittihad have shown great ambition in the last one year, having signed former Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe for a reported R15 million last January while they brought in Togolese Yawo Agbagno and Mahmoud Kahraba for a combined R20 million.
