‘Chiefs fans have no joy’ Nabi concedes & explains how Cele injury spoiled his plans

Kaizer Chiefs suffered their 10th Premier Soccer League loss on Saturday when Golden Arrows claimed a 2-1 win at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

It was not an anticipated result as the Glamour Boys were aiming at avenging the initial 1-0 loss suffered in the initial meeting. However, they were undone by strikes from Nduduzo Sibiya and Knox Mutizwa who scored on either side of Yusuf Maart's goal.

The loss was a blow for coach Nasreddine Nabi who was forced to withdraw Thabo Cele owing to an unspecified injury. The Tunisian believes his team had a better game, and the results don't portray the real picture of the game.

He has further blamed his players for failing their chances when the momentum was favouring them, before conceding what he felt was a ‘goal from nowhere.

‘It was difficult to come back after conceding the second goal' – Nabi

Thabo Cele Kaizer Chiefs vs Golden Arrows

“We feel we controlled the game in the first half and could have scored as we were in a very good moment but we didn’t,” Nabi said in his post-match interview.

“The injury of Thabo Cele in the first half, disorganized us a bit in the second half, in terms of liaising with the defence and attack, we didn’t start well in the second half.  But the changes we made made us come back into the game, then we conceded a goal out of nowhere and after that it’s very difficult to come back from that.

“The fans of Chiefs need to understand; we feel we should have scored in the opening half when we had better moments and positive to create better opportunities, when you don’t score, it costs us.

“It’s a very tough loss today and hard to accept. It puts the club and team in a difficult position and the fans of this club have no joy,” Nabi concluded.

Chiefs are currently on eighth on the PSL table with 29 points from 23 games, two points more than Arrows who are 10th after 20 matches.
