Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel is impressed with the transfer business the Glamour Boys did ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Glamour Boys brought in 11 new faces to help in rebuilding the Soweto giants, who have been a shadow of their former selves in the last decade. Most of the players signed have good quality and have boosted their team in terms of confidence and performance.

Flavio Silva (Persebaya Surabaya, Indonesia), Ethan Chislett (Port Vale, England), Nkanyiso Shinga (FC Alverce, Portugal), Paseka Mako (Orlando Pirates), Thabiso Monyane (Orlando Pirates), Siphesihle Ndlovu (SuperSport United), Asanele Velebayi (Cape Town Spurs), Etiosa Ighodaro (Mamelodi Sundowns), Luke Baartman (Cape Town Spurs), Lebohang Maboe (free), and Khanyisa Mayo (CR Belouizdad, Loan) are the new faces in the team.

The Angola international has lauded all those involved in bringing in new faces, insisting it is all that they needed.

It is important that Chiefs have competition

“This season, the team, the board, everyone who was involved in bringing in new players, were very smart; they could bring players with experience for this kind of competition, knowing we’re going to play teams who went far [in CAF inter-club competitions] last season,” he told the media.

“It brings responsibility and respect for these teams, but we’re Kaizer Chiefs, we have our value, we’re a big team also, and we will prove it. We have a large squad now, and it’s important we have a lot of competition between us.

“I think every position we have two or three players, and that brings us confidence for all kinds of competitions, we can manage well the situation between PSL and CAF competition; so it was important for us to have a deep squad to manage all the responsibilities.

“The mood is good, but the mood is momentum. Our main focus is to keep our feet on the ground and go game by game to try and bring the best out of us in every single game,” Miguel concluded.

Chiefs are third on the Premier Soccer League table with 22 points, the same as second-placed Orlando Pirates, who have a better goal difference, and just three points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
