‘Trust the process’ – Kaizer Chiefs midfielder issues plea to impatient fans

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu believes the club is on the right trajectory and will soon start challenging for titles.

Chiefs have struggled since winning the PSL title in 2015 with the Nedbank Cup of 2025 their only piece of silverware since.

In the league, the third place of last season was their best season since finishing second six years ago, leading to frustration among fans that the club could be on a long title drought given the quality and depth of rivals Mamelodi Sundowns as well as Orlando Pirates.

However, Ndlovu remains optimistic that the good times are soon coming back to Naturena and is drawing confidence from their pre-season camp in Spain.

What is giving Ndlovu confidence?

“We are all enthusiastic and very ambitious. This is a lovely environment but we are not here on holiday; we are here to work and we are putting in the effort on a daily basis. We are enjoying it, though,” he said during an interview with the club.

“It’s always better as a professional to have a pre-season, especially when you join a new team. So I am privileged to be able to have this pre-season with Chiefs to get into the right condition for the start of the season,” added the ex-SuperSport United star, who joined Amakhosi last season after they had left for pre-season to the Netherlands.

Chiefs started their pre-season with back-to-back 1-1 draws against Scottish side Rangers and Saudi club Al Kholood before losing 2-1 to Spanish club Elche in their final match on Saturday.

Ndlovu is, however, not looking at results but rather the lessons picked from those games as they look forward to the 2026-27 campaign, when they will challenge domestically as well as in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chiefs star upbeat about new season

“These games are a good way to test yourself as to where you are at. They were different types of teams. Rangers were more physical while Al Khalood were more tactical,” he further stated.

“You want to play against teams like that because it’s similar to what we are likely to face in the league and CAF Confederation Cup. We held our own and managed to score in both games, so those are positives we can take forward.”

As new coach Fernando da Cruz embarks on a mission to revive the fortunes of the Glamour Boys, Ndlovu is hoping that the supporters, who have grown frustrated, can give him the time and support to implement his philosophy.

“I beg for our fans to be patient and trust the process because I believe we are currently building something special and the supporters are always a big part of it,” said the 29-year-old.
