Kaizer Chiefs star Mfundo Vilakazi has put club rivalries aside and wished Relebohile Mofokeng well as he embarks on a new chapter of his career in Europe.

Mofokeng is in Belgium to finalise formalities of his transfer to 12-time Belgian champions Royale Union Saint-Gilloise who are reportedly set to pay Orlando Pirates €3 million (R56 million) for his services.

The 21-year-old is set to sign a four-year deal with the Brussels-based club upon completing his medical, getting a chance to realise his dream of playing in Europe.

Mofokeng’s transfer to Belgium was finally confirmed by Pirates on Wednesday with the PSL champions revealing that a deal was reach before he joined Bafana Bafana for the 2026 World Cup.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of Relebohile Mofokeng,” the club announced.

“Both parties made the joint decision to hold off on any public announcement until after the tournament, wanting Mofokeng to focus fully on the World Cup with Bafana Bafana without the distraction of transfer talk, and to allow the national team’s historic run to take centre stage,” the statement added.
