The 28-year-old leaves without making an official appearance for Chiefs after recovering from an injury he suffered immediately after joining the club. The defender leaves with a two-year deal still left after initially signing a three-year contract.

Mozambique international Edmilson Dove is another left-back who the club released a couple of weeks ago, leaving new signings Paseka Mako, Nkanyiso Shinga, alongside Bradley Cross and Happy Mashiane as the established left-backs at the club.

Sam will now have to look for a new team in the next couple of weeks to revive his career, having featured for Bafana Bafana in his early days while still contracted at Bloemfontein Celtic before joining Orlando Pirates.
