Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is among the coaches who have been linked with Kaizer Chiefs.
The Glamour Boys are currently under co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef who were given the mandate after the firing of Nasreddine Nabi following his struggles just six games into the 2025/26 season.
Amakhosi, through their Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr., have reiterated that the duo will be assessed at the end of the campaign before a decision is made about their future.

However, insiders have always revealed that the management is buying time to get an experienced tactician to fit into their project and ensure the team gets back to the summit of the South African football.
Why Mokwena?
Former Wydad Athletic Club – the team the 38-year-old coached last season before his exit to Algerian outfit MC Alger – Technical Director Allan Freese has explained why Mokwena can fit into the big shoes in Naturena.
“Yes he is a South African and he knows the culture of Chiefs, he knows what Chiefs is all about. So he can handle Chiefs. I don’t have a doubt,” he told Soccer Laduma
“He has coached Mamelodi Sundowns though it could not be the same as Chiefs in terms of support and other things but he has what it takes to coach Chiefs,” he added.

Nevertheless, the administrator stated he will be amazed to see Mokwena leave his current job for the Chiefs’ job, “I don’t know. Why would you leave the work you are enjoying to come to Chiefs?
“Why would you want to come to Chiefs now at the moment? Why must he leave then come back now while he is doing well? Maybe the timing is not right or whatever you say,” Freese concluded.
