PSL roundup: Chippa beat Galaxy as Polokwane, Stellenbosch share spoils

Chippa United recorded their second win of the season when they beat TS Galaxy at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

Bienvenu Eva Nga put Chippa ahead when he slammed home a 34th minute goal to break the deadlock but the lead lasted just six minutes when Dzenan Zajmovic equalised for Galaxy via a header.

A swift counter attack nine minutes after the break yielded Galaxy’s second goal scored by Ayabulela Konqobe Magqwaka.

Chippa were full value for their money as they held on to claim all three points to return to winning ways and take their tally to seven points which leaves them in fourth position on the table after as many matches.

What happened at Peter Mokaba Stadium?

Meanwhile, Polokwane City forced a 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch FC with Steve Barker’s men unable to make it back-to-back wins following their 3-0 thrashing of Cape Town City on Wednesday.

Lehlohonolo Mojela continued his fine form for Stellenbosch when he gave them the lead after 26 minutes but Thabang Matuludi was on hand to rescue a point for Rise and Shine on the stroke of halftime.

Chances were far and few between in the match with both sides staying resolute in defence for a share of the spoils.
