Durban City have confirmed that midfielder Joslin Kamatuka is in stable condition following a frightening incident during their 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
The Namibian international collapsed after being struck on the head by a powerful clearance from teammate Mbokazi. Medical personnel rushed onto the pitch and immediately stretchered him off before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
In a statement posted on X (Twitter), the club reassured fans:
“Durban City FC confirms midfielder Joslin Kamatuka is in stable condition after being stretchered off against Orlando Pirates. Scans at a local hospital returned clear results for the Namibian international, who will now begin his recovery. The club thanks both medical teams and fans for their swift response and overwhelming support.”
The incident briefly halted play and sparked concern among players and supporters. Thankfully, initial scans showed no serious damage, and Kamatuka is expected to make a full recovery.
