Cape Town City confirmed former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral as their new coach for the remainder of the season before taking his Technical Director role.
The position fell vacant after the sacking of Eric Tinkler a couple of days ago owing to the Citizens' struggles. His team had lost three out of the last four Premier Soccer League games and were just three points above the relegation zone.
It was a shocking move by the club ahead of the league assignments against Chiefs and Pirates respectively. Have a look at what Mzansi said after the confirmation by
Ertugral won’t last
Recycling of another has-been. I believe football has passed him by, with due respect – Kennedy Mudzuli
He will immediately resign after Sunday's game against Kaizer Chiefs. He has a bad habit of resigning during post-match interviews – Kgotla Kolomote
The coach is not too bad but has an extreme temper on the sidelines. These modern players are too soft and crybabies, they will soon be depressed by his tantrums, he won't last – Riddick Jones
A great signing. He believes in his players and youth. Eric Tinkler tried his best but if it's not your season it is not. He served them well for years – Kagiso EK
How these teams recycle failed coaches is a bit weird. To those who understand coaching and tactics, what’s happening? – Moses Moreroa
Decision to fire Tinkler taken at a bad time
SuperSport will again make this one resign. He once left Orlando Pirates on national television after Bucs were chawed 6-1 – Lampard Mpumza
It's a downgrade, it's like selling a Ferrari for a Toyota Etios. 6-0 is waiting – Siphoh Gift Zangwa
The next two fixtures will be a huge test for Ertugral who has been away from football for such a long time. Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday followed by Orlando Pirates on Wednesday. I foresee trouble for John Commitis and his team. This decision to fire a Coach was probably taken at a bad time – Ntsikelelo Dlaba
It’s quite clear that there are some people who haven’t been following Muhsin for the past 3 years. He’s been studying modern-day tactics and he’s been doing podcasts. You can tell Ukuthi there’s an improvement to his game. I hope he succeeds – Mpiliso Liso Biyela
Dylan Kerr can lead this squad to the Nedbank Cup final and still win it. In a space of three seasons, he can collect two trophies, but Muhsin! – Ndipfi-RoyalTeejay La Vhukuma-Wa VendaVibes
