Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt makes massive signing for Stellenbosch

Premier Soccer League outfit Stellenbosch have bolstered their defense with the acquisition of experienced centre-back Mosa Lebusa from the defending top-tier champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Stellies have not been doing well in the league where they are currently placed a position over the relegation zone. From the 14 games played, the Stellies – who were under Steve Berker before he left for Simba SC, have managed three wins, as many draws and eight losses meaning they have 12 points.

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has a massive job to ensure his team gets out of the danger zone and maybe finish in the top four since there are still 16 games to conclude the ongoing 2025/26 season.

Lebusa joins Stellies

“Stellenbosch FC completed the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns‘ defender Mosa Lebusa, signed as a free agent after his exit from the club,” iDiski Times reported.

“Stellies completed the signing of Lebusa on a permanent basis. The 33-year-old had six months left in his contract, but he reached an agreement with Sundowns to terminate it before signing with Stellenbosch,” they concluded.

Prior to joining Masandawana. Lebusa was turning out for Ajax Cape Town and he went on to make more than 200 appearances for the club.

Apart from the Premier Soccer League titles, Lebusa has massive experience when it comes to international football since he has played in CAF competitions. He will be vital to Stellenbosch, who are in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Hunt and Lebusa’s first competitive engagement for their new team will be on Tuesday, away to Sekhukhune United.
