Kaizer Chiefs captain Petersen ready for exciting Nedbank Cup tie vs Stellenbosch

Kaizer Chiefs captain Brandon Petersen is determined to help Amakhosi to successfully defend their Nedbank Cup.

The 31-year-old pulled off some top saves in the 2024/25 final as Amakhosi beat old rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 to be crowned. It was the Glamour Boys’ first major trophy in a decade.

Chiefs will start their Cup defense on Friday against Stellenbosch, a team that recently eliminated them from the Carling Knockout. The Soweto giants will be coming up against their former coach Gavin Hunt.

Petersen on what he is expecting against Stellies

“This is the third time I’ve [personally] drawn Stellenbosch in a cup competition, it’s always an exciting game,” said Petersen.

“We know that especially in Cape Town, we have supporters coming out to back us. We’ve done well in the past in Cape Town.

“I think with us being the defending champions, it’s important to defend our title well. The main objective for us is to bring the title back home and keep it in Naturena,” Petersen concluded.
