The immediate former Mamelodi Sundowns coach has not waited long to land a new job
Rhulani Mokwena has finally been confirmed as the new coach of Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
Mokwena arrived in Morocco on Thursday afternoon with his appointment confirmed a few hours later.
The 37-year-old has signed a three-year contract, ending days of speculation that linked him to the Moroccan club.
Mokwena’s style of play endeared him to fans in Africa
Mokwena has not waited long to land a new job since his shock departure from Mamelodi Sundowns last week following a falling out with Sporting Director Flemming Berg.
The tactician is highly rated and respected on the continent after leading the Brazilians to back-to-back PSL titles as head coach as well as the inaugural African Football League last season.
What’s more, Mokwena’s attractive style of play, with an emphasis on playing from the back and dominating possession, has endeared him to many fans across the continent and Wydad did not wait when he was available.

The 37-year-old is tasked with returning Wydad to the top
Mokwena is now tasked with restoring the club to the top of Moroccan and African football after falling off last season to finish sixth in the league.
He will also be expected to lead them back to the CAF Champions League, a competition they last won in 2022.
