Namibia international Deon Hotto is dreaming of winning an unprecedented third MTN8 crown in a row with Orlando Pirates.

The Soweto giants won the annual competition in the 2022/23 edition before successfully defending it last season.

Bucs are now in their third final in a row and will be aiming at beating Stellenbosch on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and in the process become the only side to achieve the fete.

The versatile full-back has been one of the Buccaneers key players and is expected to start this weekend. The 33-year-old insists they will give their best and become the first side to write history.

“It’s going to be something very amazing because it’s going be the third time in a row,” Hotto opened up ahead of the fixture.

“I don’t think there’s a club that has done that. It’s something that we would cherish for the rest of our lives. Definitely, we will give our best.”

Stellenbosch have had a relatively good start to the 202/25 season; apart from eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns from the competition, they have qualified for the Caf Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in their history.

It explains why they are expected to offer a tough challenge but Hotto insists they are prepared well.

“We just need to be on our toes, our minds in the game, because we have a good team. No, I don’t think there’s pressure.

The only thing we have to do is just wait for Saturday, and be ready for the match. We need to get our minds focused on the match. The only thing is to get our mindset right,” he concluded.
