Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela identifies what is ailing Amakhosi

Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela has named a number of factors that have contributed to the club’s poor campaign.

Chiefs look set for a trophyless season as they are out of all cup competitions and 11 points behind PSL leaders Orlando Pirates with their title hopes appearing to have been extinguished.

The Glamour Boys have lost four straight matches, three in the league, with the latest being Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat away to Richards Bay.

Chiefs were poor in the match as they created a number of chances but failed to utilise them and got punished dearly when the Natal Rich Boys turned on the style through counterattacks in the second half.

Masilela slams Chiefs players and coaches

That was following last Saturday’s Soweto Derby loss when Chiefs were thrashed 3-0 by Pirates and the club’s ex-left-back Masilela says their problem is not just down to their poor quality but also a lack of proper coaching.

“They did not look like scoring a goal today [Tuesday]. When you watch this Chiefs team, there is lack of chemistry, lack of cohesion, to an extent, lack of coaching,” Masilela said on SoccerBeat.

“Now it has translated in lack of belief. You look at this whole game, it seems like the coaches have lost trust and belief in the guys and vice versa. You look at the bench, the bench is defeated,” he added, further questioning co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.

Chiefs are now left with only the PSL to fight for but being 11 points behind Pirates after 18 games makes it difficult with the Buccaneers potentially set to widen the gap to 14 points if they secure victory against Polokwane City on Wednesday.
