Premier Soccer League heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs had a mixed 2024/25 season across all competitions.
The Soweto giants brought in the Tunisian tactician to help them get back to their rightful place in South African football after finishing 10th in the 2023/24 campaign, their worst-ever conclusion in the South African top-flight division.
However, the former AS FAR Rabat tactician failed to get his new side into the top half of the table following their ninth-place finish at the end of his debut season.
After winning the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi's first trophy in a decade, the Glamour Boys secured their ticket for the Caf Confederation Cup next season.
They will be aiming at defending their crown in the 2025/26 edition, as well as have a say in the Carling Knockout. However, the main challenge will be in the Premier Soccer League following the club's failure to finish in the top half for two consecutive seasons.
In the 2024/25 season, Amakhosi signed 10 players but still struggled to meet their targets.
Ahead of the new campaign, the Soweto giants are set to camp in the Netherlands for the pre-season that will take place between July 3 and 19.
Prior to the annual Toyota Cup that will be staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, Amakhosi will play top games in Europe.
On Tuesday, the Glamour Boys started their preparations for the new season with a 2-1 loss against Dutch side Vitesse. Reeve Frosler's rocket gave the Soweto giants a deserved lead before Zitha Kwinika turned the ball into his own net to give their hosts an equaliser.
Andy Visser then did well to get the winner for Vitesse and handed Nabi's men a defeat.
The next game for Chiefs will be on Friday, July 11, against Utrecht.
