Kaizer Chiefs star vows to prove himself at Amakhosi

New Kaizer Chiefs signing Elias Mokwana has revealed he has been supporting the club for the longest time possible, and really wanted to be part of the playing unit.

The 27-year-old versatile Bafana Bafana attacker was unveiled by the Soweto giants on Wednesday after parting ways with Tunisian heavyweights Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

Last season, Mokwana played for the Saudi Arabia Pro League side Al Hazem albeit on loan from Esperance and scored four goals for them. He was, however, let go by the North Africans who deemed him surplus to requirements.

In his interview with the Amakhosi media team, Mokwana has explained his love for the Black and Gold, insisting he will give his best to prove his worth.

Dream come true!

“After playing junior football for various teams growing up, Polokwane City Rovers scouted me, and I won the ABC Motsepe League, North West stream with them. Later on, I joined Sekhukhune United. After two seasons, I left for Esperance in Tunisia,” he told the club’s website.

“I grew up supporting Amakhosi. I first heard that they were interested in me when I was at Sekhukhune. Instead of going to Esperance, I was supposed to come here, but unfortunately some obstacles prevented it from happening at the time.

I was sitting with my sisters, and the first thing I did was phone my mother to share the good news with her. I can’t explain the feeling exactly. I’m excited. It’s a very nice feeling. This is a good place with good people, and I am very happy to be here.

“For me, it is a dream come true. I have always wanted to prove myself in this team and to play a part in bringing some trophies to the Club,” Mokwana concluded.
