Chiefs latest news as they break
Is Miguel reckless or passionate?
Inacio Miguel’s latest dismissal in one of Kaizer Chiefs’ biggest fixtures of the season has raised a difficult question for the club, is the Angolan defender’s combative approach a sign of misplaced passion or is it becoming a costly exercise for Amakhosi?
Miguel was sent off in stoppage time during Chiefs’ 2-1 Soweto Derby defeat to Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on 31 October 2026. The 30-year-old received his second yellow card of the match, approximately 10 minutes after being cautioned for the first time.
The dismissal came at a particularly costly moment for Amakhosi, with the defender now set to miss two important fixtures. Miguel will be unavailable for the Carling Knockout quarter-final against Siwelele FC on 6 November, as well as the Betway Premiership away clash against Chippa United following the international break.
His latest suspension brings the number of matches he has missed through disciplinary issues during his time at Naturena to six.
There is also little room for Miguel to breathe when he returns. His derby dismissal does not wipe out his existing yellow cards, meaning he will return to action sitting on three cautions, one booking away from another suspension. Those cards were accumulated against Mamelodi Sundowns, Siwelele FC and Stellenbosch FC earlier in the 2026/27 campaign.
It is a situation that will concern the Chiefs technical team, particularly given the defender’s history of disciplinary problems.

Miguel’s introduction to life at Naturena was a turbulent one, with the centre-back suspended twice within his opening six matches at the club. His first suspension came after accumulating four yellow cards, while the second followed a red card against Mamelodi Sundowns in a Carling Knockout humiliation in November 2024.
There was a period when it appeared that the defender had found a better balance. His next four cautions were spread across 21 matches, suggesting that the aggressive side of his game was becoming more controlled.
However, the 2025/26 campaign brought a return to familiar territory.

Flavio on his way to Morocco
Flavio Silva will be on his way to Morocco for international duty next week following the confirmation of his latest call-up.
Though Silva has had diluted effect at Kaizer Chiefs so far this season due partly to injury, that hasn’t deterred Guinea-Bissau from calling him up.
Just like was the case on Saturday in the Soweto Derby, his minutes have come in bits and pieces at Naturena, leaving him with just a single goal.
All the same, Guinea-Bissau coach Emiliano Té has again put his faith in the lanky marksman after confirming his inclusion in the final squad on Tuesday.
The West African nation will play two 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar, with the first match in Rabat, Morocco on November 12.

Madagascar have no CAF-approved stadia and so have been forced to move their home matches to Morocco.
Then the second leg of those back-to-back fixtures will be played on November 17 in Bissau.
