Kaizer Chiefs sabotaging South Africa’s economy? ‘Amakhosi are doing business completely different…’

Kaizer Chiefs have been struggling in recent games both domestically and abroad, losing five out of the last six matches played.

The Soweto giants crashed out of the Nedbank Cup and CAF Confederation Cup in a space of days. In the Premier Soccer League, Amakhosi have lost their last three matches in a row – against Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates, and Richards Bay in a row.

The Soweto giants are now 14 points behind leaders Buccaneers and Mamelodi Sundowns, who have collected 44 points from the 19 games played.

The current run is, not only bad for the Glamour Boys, but the country at large as explained by Bafana Bafana legend Itumeleng Khune who served Amakhosi for 25 years.

Kaizer Chiefs players need to realise…

“When Chiefs is not doing well in the PSL, even the economy goes down. Kaizer Chiefs is one of the teams that gets booked to go use stadiums whereas other teams they go hire or rent the stadiums they play at,” Khune said on Beyond Game Day.

“So, it goes to show you that Kaizer Chiefs is the biggest football institution in the country. Actually, in the continent because they’re doing business completely different to other teams.

“So, players need to realise that where am I, where am I coming from and where am I headed to,” the former custodian concluded.

Amakhosi will have an opportunity to put a smile on the faces of their players on Sunday when they play Durban City in the Premier Soccer League fixture at the FNB Stadium.
